Shelf styling can be a little intimidating, so we put together a few steps to help make it easier. Start with a clean slate and empty everything off the shelf. Turn on some good music and let's begin.

STYLING TIP 1

COLOR

Curate a color palette you love and something that goes with the furnishings in your home. We suggest choosing 3 - 5 colors for a more neutral and clean look. You can google or search color palettes on Pinterest. Pick the styling items you own in these colors and purchase a few more in those colors if you need. Repeat these colors in different shades and tones to add variation. We love the earthtones in this look here.

STYLING TIP 2

LAYER

Placing things in 3's and 5's makes a good group size. Even solo items can be placed on a stack of books or in a tray with beads. Make sure to take the paper covers off books so you get the pretty linen texture and embossed book titles that are found underneath. Book ends, candles, and trays help contain your special things and give them a designer style.

STYLING TIP 3

TEXTURE

Think about adding items like pampas grass, ceramics, small flowers, beads, wooden pieces, glass beads and other textures to add interest to your display. Combining these visual elements is what gives your space a designer touch.

STYLING TIP 4

PLANTS

It's always great to being the outdoors in! We love to add something living to an environment. Foliage is great to make your shelves seasonal. Add wildflowers in the summer or rosemary in the winter. Plus, you get the added oxygen and health benefits. Don't have a green thumb? Opt for something faux like this air plant.

STYLING TIP 5

CURATE

Carefully choose the pieces that you want to display. These could be items bought on favorite vacations, family heirlooms, framed pictures, photo books and more. Then add some designer pieces. We created a collection of our favorite shelf styling pieces from our shop. Scroll down to see them all.
